More advanced systems often include network configuration, database development, and custom software development.

Does Superior Controls act as the General Contractor and coordinate electrical and/or mechanical installation?

Yes, we have extensive experience in being the General Contractor in which we assume responsibility for all aspects of the control systems installation. We typically involve our electrical and mechanical contractors who we have partnered with for several years and have a solid working relationship. For those clients who prefer to use their own preferred contractor, we have a proven track record of working closely with our clients. contractors to ensure that the installation process goes smoothly.

Does Superior Controls have engineers who specialize in doing parts of each project, and if so, will I have to coordinate with multiple people?

Each project has a single project manager who is responsible for all aspects of the project throughout its life cycle. The project manager is assigned to the project from the start and meets with the client during the project kick off meeting. Other engineers may work on the project, but the project manager remains on the project until its completion, including start-up support.

What is CSIA?

The Control System Integrators Association (CSIA) is an organization whose primary mission has been to "raise the bar", to improve the business skills of their members, to enhance the professionalism of independent control and information system integrators, and to communicate the resultant benefits to the broad business community.

What is the CSIA Certified Members Program?

The CSIA first introduced their Best Practices and Benchmarks Process in 1997 and later initiated a Certified Member Program in 2001 which "provides manufacturers a tool in evaluating and selecting control and information system integrators". The Certified Member Program also benefits the system integrator because it establishes a "framework to evaluate and continuously improve their own businesses".

To attain a Certified Member status with CSIA, a company must undergo a rigorous audit (conducted by a third-party consulting firm) and meet or exceed CSIA's Best Practices and Benchmarks, specifically performance standards in seven critical business areas:

  • General Management
  • Human Resources
  • Project Management
  • Quality Management
  • Financial Management
  • Business Development
  • Technical Management

Simply put, companies who have passed the audit are likely to be better capable of managing projects. In order to maintain their certification status, certified members must pass an audit every three years.

What is the significance of Superior Controls' Level 1 Certification status with the CSIA?

In September of 2006, Superior Controls became the 1st ever, 3 time Certified Member and as of June of 2007, only 100 companies worldwide have passed the audit and received certification.

There are three levels of registration, Level 1 being the most difficult to attain. Each level has modified or different criteria to meet.
